“Navin Manik’s poetry and poetic prose give us glimpses of the kind afforded only to the one who is touched to the core of their soul and then allowed to return to surface. I am overwhelmed with appreciation for how present his words are to the moment-to-moment flow of life from inside out, through, and through.
Lightening Rhymes is a treasure to hold in my hand, as I read page after page. This is the poetry of the kind that comes unannounced and breaks one open, one by one, or perhaps seals one back, one by one, depends how we look at it. I recognize all those themes and spaces from where, as if a triumphant mourning happens through poetry as each one trickles out of our being – Navin does all of it absolutely exquisitely. His poems are an experience of a Fullness of Nothingness that moves within into a stillness – very impactful in written and spoken form. They are brilliant expressions of the stark experiences of our inner world.
